Holding a Promotional Event For Your Business: The Basics

Holding an event of some kind can be a fantastic, face to face way to promote your business, demonstrate products and services and create a fun environment where people can learn more about your business while having a good time. Here’s what you need to know if you’re considering this form of marketing.

Decide on location

First things first, decide where you want your event will be held, this depends on lots of factors. If you have a large business premises then you could just hold it there, otherwise consider hiring out a function or event room. Consider the size and location, it should be big enough for everyone as well as being an easy place for everyone to find. If you’re planning on hosting during the warmer months, you could even consider doing it outdoors.

You want as many potential customers and clients to be attending as possible, as it gives you the chance to advertise your business and products and secure new business relationships and sales. When you're creating an event, you want as many potential customers and clients to be attending as possible. It makes it more worthwhile for you, as it's more people that will hear about your business and the more chance you'll make connections with clients.

Get other companies involved

Inviting other non- competing companies to your event could be a smart move and benefit you both. For example, food stalls, photo booth companies and entertainment companies will all do a great job at attracting people to the event and will make it feel like less of a boring formal business event.

Make It Fun

Play games, run competitions, offer face painting and a bouncy castle for kids. Make your event interesting and entertaining so people want to come down, stay for a while and enjoy themselves. All of this can help them to see your brand in a more positive way, and they’ll be taking in information about what you do even if it’s on a subconscious level if you put up things like signs and posters.

Have Your Business Information Ready

Promoting your business is the aim of holding your event, and so you will need to make sure you have all of your information ready. If you’re doing any presentations or demonstrations, have these practiced ahead of time so that everything runs smoothly. If you have merch like pens, keyrings, balloons, hats and or tote bags made with your business name on, giving these away is further promotion for you.

Be sure to network, and take down the contact details of interested customers or businesses. Have plenty of business cards printed and ready to hand out too. You want everyone to have fun but the name of the game is to attract as many new leads as possible, so be sure to follow up after the event.
